Beforehand : Getting Started

For your appointment it is helpful if you are wearing loose, comfortable clothing. This makes examination and adjustment easier.

If you have any X-rays or scans from your doctor that you believe would be useful to us, please bring them along. If we think you would benefit from a diagnostic X-ray or scan we can refer you to the appropriate medical centre through Medicare.

Arriving At Your Appointment

On arrival at Yarra Valley Innate Chiropractic, you will be warmly welcomed and greeted by one of our friendly receptionists (we call them Chiropractic Assistants, or CA’s). While in the waiting room you will be given some forms to fill out so that we can do the following:

  • Assess your medical history and your lifestyle
  • Ascertain your stress levels both current and past
  • Get a clearer idea of the issues that have brought you to us

The amounts of stressors in your life are important because stress has such an impact on the delicate nerve system and its finely tuned operation.

Your Consultation

Once you have completed the forms, your chiropractor will greet you and take you to the consultation room where you will have a friendly and informal chat about your history and any problems you are experiencing.

Tests of your balance and muscle strength are carried out to determine the condition of your nerve system and if any interference is found you will be offered an adjustment using our painless and gentle Torque Release Method. You should allow 45 minutes for your first appointment, including for the completion of paperwork.

Your Second Appointment

On your second appointment with us, your chiropractor will give you a report of findings on your case and a proposed care plan to help you in your particular situation. If you decide that chiropractic care in for you, then you will receive you first adjustment.

You should allow half an hour for this appointment.

Longer-Term Care

Once you have been adjusted or had a course of adjustments your Chiropractor will usually advise adjustments at regular intervals to maintain or improve the gains already made. Of course there is no obligation for you to keep having adjustments unless you want to, but many people do come back at regular intervals because of the feeling of relief and well-being that getting adjusted brings.
